Home prices split by district: Jerusalem and the North rise as the Center falls 4%

Apartment prices are not moving together across Israel. The national index for owner-occupied housing eased 1.5%, to 593.6, and new-build prices fell 1.9%, to 538.5 - but Jerusalem climbed 2.0%, to 578.5, and the North gained 1.3%, to 665.4.
The Center district, the country's priciest, posted the sharpest drop of the eight regions: -4.0%, to 582.8. Haifa slipped 1.7%, to 627.7, Tel Aviv fell 1.9%, to 559.3, and the South barely moved (-0.1%, 574.5).
If you are drawing up a lease this year, check the figure for your own district before assuming the national trend applies to your street.
